On January 6, I posted this on Facebook:
“With all that is going on in this world – we are in need of some genuine kindness. Peace begins with you.
I’m participating in this “Pay It Forward” Initiative: The first five people that comment on this status with “I’m in” will receive a surprise from me at some point during this year (2015), anything – a book, a ticket, something home-grown, homemade, a postcard, any surprise! There will be no warning and it will happen when the mood comes over me and I find something that I believe would suit you and make you happy.
These five people must make the same offer on their Facebook status. Once my first five have commented “I’m in” I will forward this message to you privately, so that you can copy and paste it, and put it on your status (don’t share it), so that we can form a web of connection and of connection and of kindness.”
It was so much fun that I expanded my web of participation to eight.
One of the eight went out in August and another in September.
Today I packaged six gift boxes for mailing out tomorrow. I’m trusting the recipients will be surprised and pleased. I had so much fun throughout this year gathering things to give. I actually filled a medium sized cardboard box with small and hopefully meaningful presents. Yesterday I had the fun of deciding what to put in each person’s box. I guess you could call it another form of dissemination.
Feeling grateful for the gift of giving. I’ll have to participate in these things more often.
