Eyes on the Skies

See this week's sky at a glance at Sky & Telescope

Watch for Venus shining brightly in the pre-dawn hours. It is so bright it continues to be visible shortly after after sunrise.

Comet Holmes is still in Perseus, very dim but big — more than 1° across. Look for it just northwest of Algol all week.

Check out Your Sky, where you can simulate a customizable view of the sky from your location showing planets, stars, constellations and more.

Heavens-Above is a very cool site where you can find out when and where to look for satellites traversing the sky, including the spectacular and elusive Iridium flares.

Get local sunrise times (and more) from the Farmer's Almanac or the US Naval Observatory.
