Want a change of feelings?
July 4 – 7
Use these 3.5-days to form your intent. Consider the house in your natal chart that holds 13º Cancer. That is the area of your life that will benefit most from your attention during this emotional cycle.
During the New phase you are stimulated by sight, inner and outer. What you see, real or imagined, and the feelings evoked will subtly inform your experience. The more emotionally satisfying the visual exposure the better.
Allow yourself time to see your goal clearly and then create a visual representation of it to use as a focus throughout the rest of the cycle.
At the end of this post we offer a variety of ideas for your inspiration, including a brief meditative visualization, a mandala to print out and color, and a link to a page of artist’s renderings of Home.
July 4 – 5 Moon in Cancer
Collect images that excite you relating to the Cancer themes of nurturing growth, home, family, and tradition. Imagine being in a totally safe place, free to express your feelings. What is it about that space that gives you the feeling of security?
July 5 – 7 Moon in Leo
Form your intention for the cycle and create a focus point or visual representation of it for reference throughout the month. Color the 2016 Cancer New Moon Mandala; print out a photo of your dream home; or create an image depicting what a safe space feels like.
A Meditative Visualization for the Cancer New Moon
Sit with your back straight, shoulders relaxed, hands resting on tops of thighs, feet flat on the floor,
inhale Security …
exhale Determination …
inhale Adaptability …
exhale Victory …
inhale Change …
exhale Growth …
Imagine yourself floating down a river on a raft,
Letting the currents navigate your way,
You close your eyes as river widens,
Listen to the water lapping against the side of the raft.
Feel the raft rocking you gently,
As you drift slowly down stream.
Visions of dinner arouse your hunger,
A sudden increase in speed diverts your attention.
Alarmed, you open your eyes
to see a patch of rough water looming in the distance.
You quickly size-up the situation, grab an oar,
and steer your way around the rocks and whitewater.
Take a moment to feel the excitement,
The exhilaration of making it through the rapids.
Know that you have found your way to a safe harbor.
The currents have brought you home.
Color the Cancer Mandala using colors that express your intentions. Or let these artist’s images of home inspire you to create images of your own.
Sandra shares how she follows the moon, in her personal moon phase journal, Sunny’s Days. We invite you to join her walk through the year. Declare your intentions – start your own moon phase journal. Share your images, words, colors, and goals for this lunation cycle or on your blog and link to it in the comments.
