Leo Lunation Cycle,  August 11 – September 8, 2018:

This New Moon is receiving a lot of attention because it is also a Solar Eclipse and therefore, a powerful portal for new beginnings. This is a north nodal eclipse, suggesting that we are being called to develop new skills and talents through independent effort. We can view this time, full of endings and beginnings, as fearful and something to resist, or as beneficial and something to embrace. We can look at the eclipse as an omen of doom and disaster or as a unique portal in time offering an opportunity to realign with our Solar Purpose. Reflecting on past Solar Eclipses at this degree may provide additional awareness: August 12, 1942, August 11, 1961 & 1999,  August 10, 1980.

The Leo New Moon initiates a 29.6-day cycle illuminating your creative self-awareness. It teaches the importance of acting from the heart, expressing yourself creatively and shining your inner light out into the world. This Leo cycle offers the experience of applying what you learned during the last cycle. Especially since the Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon phase (July 27 – 30) two weeks ago brought an awareness of the strength of your need to give and receive love.

A resistance to giving up personal pleasures or habits could distract you from taking advantage of opportunities. A plethora of creative ideas combined with optimistic excitement can lead you to overextend. The challenge of this cycle is to stay focused on your heart. Your mental attitude holds the key to your actions. Positive expectations support a positive outcome right up until you discover you’ve promised more than you can deliver. Be aware of your needs for creative space and say no to others who want to control your time. Irritations with others could be a reflection of an inner discomfort experienced when your self-expression feels stifled.

This is an excellent cycle to inhabit your sacred space where you can more comfortably develop your self-awareness and self-trust. This is a time to trust the growth process by leaning into your creative self. Take the opportunity during this cycle to observe the things that make your heart sing. Look at life through the eyes of an inquisitive child. Explore the roles that courage, generosity, and loyalty play in your life. Demonstrate your mental will, emotional determination, and physical fortitude. Revise the seeds of intention you planted in April. Approach them from a new perspective.

Focus on the more altruistic premise that all you need do to make a positive contribution to the world is open your heart.  Devote the month to refreshing your talents and re-creating your world into a more trusting and loving place. Entertain yourself by participating in various forms of self-expression. Take a recess, relieve tension and enjoy some play time and recreational activity. Experts affirm the transformative power of creative play; it invigorates the mind and stimulates the imagination. Dedicate this cycle to manifesting a creative project by making time to play with it.

Understanding the passions that power your life are key to fulfilling your potential. Recall a time you displayed courage in the face of fear. Visualize how it feels to receive attention for your talents.

Questions you might explore for personal insight include:

  • How has your creativity helped you survive past challenges?
  • What are your strengths?
  • How do you express yourself?
  • What are some other ways you could express yourself?
  • When do you feel most radiant and vital?
  • Who in your life is an example of a good steward?
  • Where and with whom would life be easier if you were more generous and affectionate?
  • What makes your heart sing?
  • What tugs at your heart?
  • What brings out your confidence?
  • When are you most courageous?

The energy shifts from stationary to active during last half of this cycle as Mars goes direct the day after the Full Moon, and Mercury, which stationed direct on the 18th, increases in speed and crosses its shadow on the 31st. The Full phase, August 26 -29 (Moon at 3° Pisces 12″, Sun at 3° Virgo 12″), will provide the awareness necessary to determine what you will be addressing during the next lunation cycle that begins on September 9 with the New Moon at 17° Virgo 00″.

Affirmation for this cycle:

I Radiate Love’s Light.

Quote for this cycle:
