My 2015 Sagittarius Mandala

(dedicated to my Desert Flower daughter whose birthday was on the New Moon)

It’s been quite a few years since I’ve worked the phases and cycles so actively and it’s delightful. I decided this month to print out my mandala on a sheet of watercolor paper and hand paint it.  Auntie Moon’s post about Sagittarius and Turquoise, my thoughts about the celebrations of light at this time of year, and the Plumeria flowers in bloom outside my window became the basis of my palette. I painted while holding thoughts about the gifts of the season and the Sun at the center, a metaphor for standing in my strength.

The Sagittarius New Moon was in my 8th house of intimate relationships, shared resources, and issues of life and death, all of which were brought to my attention during the 3 days of the New Phase. It looks like I will have ample material to work with this cycle.

I wrote in the New Moon News, that this is an excellent cycle to “explore your philosophy of life and your sense of personal freedom. Moments of solitude bring a deeper sense of purpose and direction.” Since I know many changes lie ahead, and especially since I am pretty much clueless about what those changes are, I can really benefit from gaining a deeper understanding of what gives me purpose and meaning.  So that’s my intention for the cycle in broad terms. The more mundane goals this month are simple, to make the time for self-exploration and for the joyful appreciation of friends and family.

Affirming: Self-awareness is my strength.
