The Vortex of Existence
The Lunar Eclipse on September 16, began quite casually with an internet search of writing classes, local and on-line. Lots to look at and consider. After lunch I settled in with a book but I couldn’t get comfortable. That’s when I realized that one leg felt heavier than the other. My first thought was it was some kind of weird reaction to the flu shot I’d gotten a few days before. On second thought, maybe I’m having a heart attack or stroke, although I didn’t appear to be displaying symptoms. I go to the computer to do a search and within 2 minutes I realize I have neither feeling, nor the ability to move my left arm or leg. Then I know it’s a stroke. Fortunately, David was here, an ambulance was called, and I was receiving treatment within 90 minutes.
David posted this on my Facebook page on September 18:
I watched the rainbow through the ambulance’s rear window almost all the way to the hospital.
Actually, it was an Acute Ischemic Stroke and it was a phenomenal recovery because I was completely paralyzed on the left side of my body and after 2 relapses during the first 36 hours in the hospital, I was told to expect several months in a rehab facility. And yet, I regained control and strength quickly and was certified to go home on September 19, without need for any rehab.
The experience was surreal, to say the least.
