The sign of Scorpio is associated with sex, death, and rebirth. The house that Scorpio occupies in the natal chart shows an area of life where one may be obsessive, have secrets, feel jealousy, and battle for control. It also shows the area where one can replenish their energy, tune into to hidden currents of meaning, be especially resourceful, passionate, private, and powerful. Scorpio is a water sign with a focus on introspection, intensity and intimacy. Ruled by Mars & Pluto, there is an emphasis on investigation, analysis, recycling, and transformation. Issues involving shared resources, taxes, insurance, banking, credit, inheritances, trust, revenge, research, and magic become accentuated during the Scorpio cycle.

There is a lot of interest in the 11-11 aspect of this New Moon. Here’s an informative article by Kelli Fox.

Sabian Symbol for 20 degrees Scorpio:

“A woman draws away two dark curtains closing the entrance to a sacred pathway.” This degree symbolizes the courage to face the darkness and the need to rely on your intuition as you plunge ahead into the unknown.  Lynda Hill has an in-depth interpretation of the degree symbolism of this new moon.

Highlights of the New Moon chart at 19º Scorpio 01″:
New Moon semisquare Venus; sextile Jupiter:

There are professional and domestic opportunities for expansion. Social situations can become touchy, requiring you to yield gracefully. Once the equilibrium is regained, your friends and social contacts will be there to support your cause.

Mars at 29º Virgo 18″:

A concentrated and dynamic effort to bring something to completion.

Venus sextile Saturn:

Duty and responsibility bring happiness. Pleasure is found in productive work. An opportunity to build long lasting relationships.

Mars bi-septile Pluto:

A compelling drive to move ahead into activities that will bring out your full potential.

Jupiter quincunx Uranus:

Attempts at achieving desired change are hindered by minor details, the unreliability of others, unrealistic expectations.

Saturn square Neptune:

Structures dissolve, illusions are pierced by reality, and creative visions for the future can be manifested. Sarah Varcas has a good article on this aspect. This is the first of three times the square will occur. Next up is June 17, 2016, and September 10, 2016.  Molly Hall at gives an overview.

The key phrase for Scorpio is “I Transform”.
Our advice for this cycle:

Use the potent energy available at the beginning of this cycle to advance your goals by taking care of unfinished business. Engaging in a productive activity that brings beauty to your environment will prove gratifying and provide a sense of stability in moments of confusion or anxiety.  Stay flexible and ready to adjust to situations that impinge on the expression of your individuality, especially as it gets closer to the end of the month.

You’ll get the most out of this cycle by being conscious of what is going on within.Scorpio correlates to Introspection on the Medicine Wheel. A penetrating look of what you experienced during the Libra cycle will increase your self-knowledge and your ability to stand in your own power.

Questions you might explore for personal insight include:

  • What is it you would most like to see changed?
  • What things can you release?
  • When do you feel most fearful?
  • How comfortable are you with your sexuality?
  • Where and with whom would life be easier if you were to form more intimate connections?
  • Do you think you are being manipulating or manipulated and how does that make you feel?
  • What action can you take to step into your power?
Affirm: Introspection gives me strength.

Tarot Symbolism

Attune to the qualities of Scorpio with a 3-minute tarot meditation on Death.

Death is the initiate of the Mysteries, he understands transformative power and reminds us that to live is to die and to die is to be reborn.

Confer with Death when there is resistance to change.

Quote for this cycle:

“Inside myself is a place where I live all alone, and that’s where you renew your springs that never dry up.”
