Virgo is a mutable sign, associated with practical intelligence; it rules the digestive system.

The key phrase for Virgo is “I Analyze”.

The simple rituals of daily life provide the grounding necessary for balance. Good health, altruistic service, and productive employment support success; practicality and prudence guarantee it. This is an excellent cycle to examine your daily routines, diet, habits, and hygiene for areas that are in need of improvement and to initiate necessary changes.

Tarot Symbolism

Attune to the qualities of Virgo with a 3-minute tarot meditation on The Hermit.

09Hermit

The Hermit holds the light for us to stay upon the path in times of darkness. He is the figure of elder wisdom; an experienced guide, well-versed in natural and spiritual law. He teaches us to make use of solitude to question our beliefs, to become conscious of universal cause–and-effect and to discern wholeness.

Confer with the Hermit whenever you need guidance.

Virgo Sits in the West-South-West on the Medicine Wheel.

The direction West-South-West points to the path of emotional intelligence. The sign Virgo correlates to Love, the third and final step on the Southern pathway of Sun Bear’s Medicine Wheel. The trust developed during the Leo cycle allows you to invest yourself in service with passionate devotion.

Sabian Symbol for 10º Virgo:

“Two Heads Looking Out And Beyond The Shadows.” This degree symbolizes the growth of understanding when the mind is able to see past conflicts, oppositions and duality with the realization that they are complementary aspects of one reality. In other words, the self-transcending activity of the mind.— from An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformation and Its 360 Symbolic Phases © 1973 Dane Rudhyar

Highlights of the Solar Eclipse at 9º Virgo 21′:

A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon with tremendous impact. The Sun that gives us life and lights our path is joined briefly with the dark and mysterious qualities of the Moon. The Moon blocks the light of the Sun. In this moment of perceived darkness, spirituality and the psyche combine anew, beginning another cycle in the spiral of our personal development.

This is a north nodal eclipse, suggesting that we are being called to develop new skills and talents through independent effort.

If your birthday falls around Jan 14 or 29, Feb 28, Mar 29, Apr 13 or 29, May 30, Jun 30, Jul 16, Aug 1, Sep 1, Oct 1 or 17, Nov 1 or 30, Dec 30, your experiences now will have impact lasting three years. Expect to see current themes begin to develop ambitiously on their own in June, 2017. A full understanding of the significance of this period will take until March, 2018 to unfold.

The last solar eclipse at this degree was September 1, 1997. Think back to the personal themes in your life during the late summer and early fall of 1997 and review the progress of your personal growth over the last 19 years

Additional highlights of the Virgo lunation cycle:

This Virgo lunation cycle begins amid feelings of instability, uncertainty, and a desire for independence (Sun & Moon sesquare Uranus).

Professional and domestic responsibilities weigh heavily and the only solution feels like tedious and unrewarding work (Sun & Moon square Saturn), making the future look gloomy. Cynicism combined with a sense of disappointment due to unrealistic romanticism may prompt escapist tendencies (Sun & Moon opposite Neptune).

Communication is highlighted with an emphasis on an analytical review of ethical concepts (Mercury Rx conjunct Jupiter). Unexpected events are disruptive to travel and the dissemination of information, seeming to force decisions based on an imperative from deep within (Mercury Rx & Jupiter septile Uranus).

The ability to see beyond appearances and make constructive repairs (Mars semi-sextile Pluto) lends a sense of control.  A tolerant attitude combined with discipline and patience leads to the achievement of objectives and a talented approach to dealing with responsibility (Mercury Rx & Jupiter quintile Saturn).

The eclipse of the Sun, the current Mercury Retrograde, the Lunar Eclipse on September 15, and the entry of the Sun into Libra on September 22 marking the equinox and the turning of the seasons, all add to the tension of this lunation cycle.

Our advice for this cycle:

Although this may feel like an unproductive period, patience and devotion to duty will ensure your success. Integrity and ingenuity are absolutely required. Be discerning about how you invest your time. Choose your priorities carefully. Keep critical opinions to yourself. Abstain from negativity and over-optimism.

Put your energy into gathering information to better understand how you can increase your awareness. Look for patterns in your daily routines that support or undermine the achievement of your goals.

Pay attention to signals from your body that it needs care. If you find yourself physically fatigued, emotionally overwrought, or mentally tense, take a few minutes to sit still, breathe, and center.

Polish your communications. This is an excellent cycle to study or finish up details on a writing project. Write in your journal.

The more connected you are to your center, the easier it will be to adapt to new information and access your brilliance. Give yourself as much alone time as possible and listen to the voice within. Spend time in nature. Put your mind at rest and listen to the way your body responds.

Questions you might explore for personal insight include:

  • What situations do you find most difficult to digest?
  • Is there an area of your life where you are prone to ‘analysis paralysis’?
  • When and with whom are you most trusting?
  • Where and with whom would life be easier if you were less critical and more humble?
  • How do you express your love?
  • What are your daily rituals or habits?
  • When are you most disciplined?
  • How do you give service to others?
  • When do you feel most relaxed and worry-free?
Affirm: I analyze without criticism or judgment.
